Laine Savage (Wild Wool) is a performative, poetical elegy to the lives of sheep and the mountains of the Pays Basque.
Laine Sauvage in which I record photographically and geo-locate the wool left on the barbed wire fences of sheep meadows, I gather and date the wool and hand spin it into yarn. Each ball of yarn is a measurement, artifact, and witness of my experience of the landscape on that particular date. The work references the works of Richard Long such as “A Line Made By Walking.” The project is presented as photographic still and moving images as well as the raw wool and yarns.
